There is a handy lower shelf for storing gardening tools, or allowing extra space for pots and seed trays. Teak wood is also strong and water resistant, making it ideal for a long lasting garden planter. Should you wish to plant directly into the planter, then it would be recommended adding a lining first to prevent soil leakage through the drainage slats and protect the planter itself. Product Info – Handmade in Indonesia from teak wood which is sustainably sourced from legal regulated government plantations, with suppliers that are FLEGT certified. Teak is a durable and practical hardwood. The furniture is delivered to you untreated; if left to age naturally it will slowly fade over time to a lovely soft grey/silver shade. If you would like to retain the original soft brown shade, and also give the wood extra protection from the natural elements, we would recommend using a wood sealer treatment. We would always recommend testing the sealer underneath the planter slats to check the shade before applying to the table top.
